Want to live close to downtown Spokane without necessarily living in the middle of downtown?

Take a look at Browne's Addition and Kendall Yards.

They're both minutes from the city's core, but that's about where the similarities end.

Browne's Addition: Historic & Eclectic

Browne's Addition is one of Spokane's oldest neighborhoods, and you can see that history everywhere.

You'll find impressive historic residences, apartments, condos and converted older properties all mixed together. Coeur d'Alene Park sits at the heart of the neighborhood, while the Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture is nearby.

It feels established, eclectic and distinctly Spokane.

You may love Browne's Addition if you want:

  • Historic architecture

  • Downtown nearby

  • A mix of housing types

  • Mature trees

  • Parks and cultural amenities

  • A neighborhood with history and personality

Something to consider:

Housing varies tremendously. A historic single-family residence, condo and apartment can all sit within a few blocks of each other. Parking, maintenance and property condition can also be important considerations depending on the property.

Kendall Yards: Newer, Walkable & Planned

Cross to the north side of the Spokane River and the experience changes.

Kendall Yards is newer and was designed with walkability and community amenities in mind.

You can grab coffee, meet someone for dinner, walk the Centennial Trail and get downtown without traveling far.

Housing includes newer single-family homes, townhomes, condos and apartments.

You may love Kendall Yards if you want:

  • Newer construction

  • Walkability

  • Restaurants close to home

  • Centennial Trail access

  • Downtown proximity

  • Lower-maintenance housing options

Something to consider:

Newer and more compact housing can mean less private outdoor space. Depending on the property, you'll also want to understand HOA dues and community rules.

Which One Would You Choose?

Here's the easiest way to picture the difference:

Browne's Addition: Historic + eclectic + mature + urban

Kendall Yards: Newer + planned + walkable + connected

If I gave you the keys to a home in either neighborhood today, which one would you pick?
